Project: Reprogramming of the (innate) immune system in chronic kidney disease as a potential driver of cardiovascular disease (cardiac remodeling)
PI: Rafael Kramann

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a multifactorial and complex disease involving pathologic changes in different organs. The immune system is an important part of the systemic effect of CKD and chronic inflammation is one of the hallmarks of CKD. We want to investigate how the different cell population of the immune system are altered in the context of CKD with a special focus on their formation from the haemopoietic stem cell compartment.
