Project: The role of incretin hormone GLP-2 in septic cardiomyopathy

PI: Michael Lehrke

GLP-2 is an incretin hormone secreted from intestinal L-cells without direct insulinotropic effects that is able to improve nutrient absorption and decrease permeability in the gut and has recently been shown to be upregulated in patients with colitis. However, its role in acute inflammatory settings is still unknown.

The aim of our project is to investigate the effect of GLP-2 in sepsis and septic cardiomyopathy in a murine sepsis model.
