Project: The role of FGF23 after myocardial infarction
PI: Elisa Liehn
FGF23 is a protein mainly produced in osteocytes and acting on the kidney to regulate phosphate homeostasis and vitamin D metabolism. It has recently been shown to be directly correlated with cardiovascular mortality after myocardial infarction. However, the role of FGF23 in remodeling processes after acute myocardial infarction is still unknown.
We investigate the local role and function of FGF23 in a mouse model of myocardial infarction induced by left anterior descending artery ligation.
