Isabelle Jordans, President of “Bundesverband Niere e.V., gave a very private and emotional insight into how patients and their families feel when a diagnosis of renal failure is made and a transplant becomes necessary. She spoke in a very emotionally and personally way about moments of hopelessness, hope, but also helplessness of the affected patients and families who are often left alone with severe diagnoses and the subsequent life changes. She clearly showed how important it is for doctors and clinicians to work well and closely together with patient associations or even self-help groups, so that those affected can get the best help and support as quickly as possible.
