On December 9th, the ELN Exchange Meeting brought together two consortia, SFB/TRR219 and CRC1382, for a collaborative session featuring a guest lecture by Dr. Dickson Wong, a post-doctoral fellow in the LaBooratory of Nephropathology at the Institute for Pathology and a member of the SFB/TRR219 consortia. Dr. Wong shared an insightful presentation on their workflow using eLabJournal in laboratory research.

The presentation highlighted key eLabJournal features, including:

  • Centralized Sample Database: A single repository for storing and managing samples.

  • Advanced Search and Filtering: Tools to quickly locate specific data.

  • Protocols & SOP Management: Efficient organization of standard operating procedures.

  • Experiment Documentation and Template Customization: Flexible templates tailored to specific experimental needs.

Dr. Wong emphasized how eLabJournal streamlines laboratory processes through features like:

  • Version Control: Tracks changes and maintains a history of revisions for improved data integrity.

  • Access Control: Manages user permissions to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access.

  • Collaboration Features: Helps to share data, communicate in real-time, and streamline workflows for better productivity and data integrity.

These functionalities were shown to improve lab efficiency by organizing workflows, ensuring traceability, and maintaining security in the lab environment.
